BMW Twin Turbo offers 1-series in the U.S. by 2008

BMW officials have confirmed to Winding Road to a corporate event this week that the 1-series will makes its way to U.S. shores in 2008. Although there are official company statements released saying that the 1-series is planned for the U.S. market within two years a source at BMW, however, indicated that an overestimation and confirmed that 1-series will be announced for the U.S. market before the end of 2007. Sales of the 1-series is expected to begin in early 2008.

And it not the best news yet — the 1-series will debut at the U.S. market will have fabulous new BMW twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-6. Is the same engine in the new BMW 335i coupe and convertible, which has the piezo direct injection and provides more thrust than its official rating suggests 300hp. The 1-series has a lighter weight, and his powerful hatch must be able to beat the 335i sprints to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds. Its performance is comparable to that of the previous M3. Also coming to the U.S. market is the latest BMW naturally aspirated 3.0-liter in-line-6.

The 1 series cars beginning in the U.S. market versions will be two doors only. This means that the U.S. missed the five-door. But BMW has made clear that additional models will be added later but they would first like to get a quick read on the viability of acceptance of the car in the United States before deploying other models. The 135i and 130i will be launched in two forms tailgate doors and probably soon a convertible two-door sedan and a suitable locker will also be offered, but of course it's something for BMW decide.

Price for 1-series has not been finalized, but the car cost somewhere between the BMW 3 series and MINI.
