Is this a decent boat to buy for someone new to boating?

Saw this boat on craigslist, was wondering if this is a decent boat for someone new to boating who has never owned a boat?

Would I be able to pull someone skiing behind it?

Mainly just looking for something to take out on the lake with a few buddies, have a few beers, hang out, maybe do some fishing.

Old but looks and sounds good. Remember though, that that old engine cannot be run hard for hours on end. I would recommend a boat with a newer engine for pulling skiers. Another thing not mentioned in tha add is if the transom was rebuilt. That is something to check. If you are dead set on this boat please have an experienced friend to go on the test drive with you. But, I would pass for something with a motor built in at least the 1990′s.
