Honda Motorcycle Blue Book Value

Should I buy this motorcycle? 89 Honda Shadow?

I’m buying from an international college student who is selling it for $700. I don’t know too much about motorcycles, never owned one, but when I checked it out, it didn’t look too bad. It had some rust on the chrome, the tank was fine, tires were ok.

The only problems mentioned to me so far was that the shocks needed fixed (or replaced) and some wiring fixed for the blinkers.

I checked kelly’s blue book for retail value and it was (off my memory) about $1500 for a 600cc and $2300 for a 1100cc.

What do you think?

You did not say if it is running or not or if you test rode it. Most used bikes will be in need of some repair but it depends on how expensive it is. You also did not say what size it is a 600 or the 1100 cc. The price may be a bit much for the smaller 600cc but could be worth it for the larger 1100cc. I suggest going to your local dealer and talking to them about what they would charge to fix those things and what they think.
