Honda Motorcycle Nt700v

Honda Motorcycle Nt700v
What do you think of the new Honda NT700V sport touring motorcycle?

Personally, this thing looks like it should be called an ST700, but that would make too much sense. So, have you ridden one of these? Does it have enough power for two? How’s the clutch and the storage space? My current bike is a Suzuki 650 Burgman with about 50 hp. Is the ST700/NT700V a step up–or just another option? Thanks for your feedback.

People who have not ridden this bike are quick to judge by reading what others say. I spent a week on an ’04 NT650V Deauville – two up and fully packed – in the Scottish Highlands, and found the bike to be tons of fun. I have owned three BMW’s and a VFR, so I have a clue. I examined a 2010 NT700 in the showroom two days ago, and it looks sharper than the 04, with a wider, firmer seat, and nicely adjustable windshield. The bike feels more compact than an RT, and has less pull, but it still has plenty of go and a nice v-twin feel. It is not for long-haul highway usage, as it gets a little jittery around 80 MPH, but otherwise I give this bike very high marks and hope to add one to my garage at the right price. It has excellent storage and weather protection (way better than F800ST, VStrom or Versys) . It’s very comfortable for long days (unlike F800ST) and it’s shaft drive. It’s no scooter, despite the “integrated” bags. It’s not sexy, and it’s no sport bike. But as a mid-size tourer, it has no competition. Check your Harley-sized ego at the door, throw a leg over and go for a very long ride in the mountains. You’ll come back with a wide smile on your kisser.
