Concours DElegance $76.47 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A Concours dElegance (from French meaning a competition of elegance, lit. concourse of excellence, referring to the gathering of prestigious cars) dates back to 17th Century French aristocracy, who paraded horsedrawn carriages in the parks of Paris during Summer weekends and holidays. Over time, carriages became horseless and the gatherings became a competition among automobile owners to be judged on the appearance of their automobiles. These commonly are held at automobile shows or after racing competitions. Notable Concours dElegances include Pebble Beach Concours dElegance, Meadow Brook Concours dElegance, Amelia Island Concours dElegance, and Louis Vuitton Classic in midtown Manhattan. Concours exist for motorcycles as well. The annual Dana Point Concours dElegance is a good show; once again jousting with the Palos Verdes Concours dElegance on which of the two events will eventually be called the Pebble Beach of the South.
