Like Less

How come that when a language evolves, it usually gets less and less complicated?
I mean, like alot of verb forms and grammatical cases disappear. I know it’s like this in swedish, and I think it’s like that in english as well. Why do they become less complicated and not the other way around? And what will this lead to?
It is like that in English too. We have almost no cases anymore (except for a few remnants, like he and him, or she and her). It just makes sense that difficult constructions or grammatical concepts drop out when they are unnecessary, it’s like water following the easiest path.
I suspect English (and every other language) will continue to simplify as older constructions are no longer needed. i.e. already American English has simplified spellings of many words that the rest of the English-speaking world hasn’t, such as neighbor rather than neighbour, or center rather than centre.
