How do you know if the mod loaded Sims 3 work?

Well I downloaded a few mods that have been Symbology for The Sims 3 and I can not imagine how to get to work. I followed the instructions I received. Is there something I must do to enable them, as in The Sims 2?

By downloading mods from a website wishes to file his 3/Mods/Package Sims. If you installed the Mono installer, all you have to right-click on the file after unpack and then put in Hacks folder.
