High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Aston Martin V12 Vantage are a hand built sports car series from the British manufacturer Aston Martin. Aston Martin has previously used the Vantage name on high performance variants of their existing GT models, notably on the Viragebased car of the 1990s. The modern car, in contrast, is the leanest and most agile car in Astons lineup. As such, it is intended as a more focused model to reach out to potential buyers of cars such as the Porsche 911 as well as the exotic sports and GT cars with which Aston Martins traditionally compete. Following the unveiling of the AMV8 Vantage concept car in 2003, the production V8 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The two seat, two door coup had a bonded aluminium structure for strength and lightness. The 172.5 inch (4.38 m) long coup featured a hatchbackstyle tailgate for practicality, with a large luggage shelf behind the seats. In addition to the coup, a convertible was available known as the V8 Vantage Roadster. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Aston Martin V8 Vantage was hailed at its 1977 introduction as Britains First Supercar for its 170 mph (270 km/h) top speed. Its engine was shared with the Lagonda, but it used highperformance camshafts, increased compression ratio, larger inlet valves and bigger carburettors mounted on new manifolds for increased output. Straightline performance was the best of the day, with acceleration from 060 mph (97 km/h) in 5.3 seconds, onetenth of a second quicker than the Ferrari Daytona. The Vantage name had previously been used on a number of highperformance versions of Aston Martin cars, but this was a separate model. Although based on the Aston Martin V8, numerous detail changes added up to a unique driving experience. One of the most noticeable features was the closedoff hood bulge rather than the open scoop found on the normal V8. The grille area was also closed off, with twin driving lights inserted and a spoiler added to the bootlid. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Aston Martin V8 is a twodoor coupetype automobile manufactured in the United Kingdom from 1969 to 1989. Aston Martins customers had been clamouring for an eightcylinder car for years, so Aston Martin designed a larger 2door saloon for V8 applications. The engine was not ready, however, so in 1967 the company released the DBS with the straight6 Vantage engine from the DB6. Two years later, Tadek Mareks V8 was ready, and Aston released the DBS V8. With the demise of the straight 6 Vantage in 1973, the DBS V8, now called simply the Aston Martin V8, became the companys mainstream car for two decades. It was retired in favour of the Virage in 1989. From 1969 through 1972, Astons flagship model was the DBS V8. Though the body and name was shared with the sixcylinder DBS, the V8 sold for much more. The body was a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Aston Martin look, with a squaredoff grille and four headlights (though some consider the styling derivative of the early Ford Mustang). Aston Martin Db7: The Complete Story

Aston Martin Db7: The Complete Story

$24.49

The car that would become the DB7 began its gestation in 1991. Developed entirely under the ownership of Ford, this new smaller Aston Martin was intended to add a new higher-volume strand to Aston Martin’s range, and when the good-looking car was launched in 1993 it soon became obvious that this was sound policy. The straight-six-powered coupe was an instant hit and sold well. A cabriolet version followed soon afterwards, and in 1998 Project Vantage – a V12 version of the car was unveiled. In 2002 the range was joined by two special editions – the Vantage Zagato and the GT. When production of the DB7 family ended in 2003, giving way to the DB9, just over 7000 cars had been produced, making the DB7 the most numerous of all Astons. Written with the full cooperation of the factory, this is a book for every lover of this superb car.
