Miles Black
I have been running 5-6 miles and I noticed that my toe nails are turning black and blue. Is this common?
I have been using the same pair of shoes and they are very comfortable. Do I need better shoes or better running techniques?

1. Feet change size often depending on the time of day and the number of miles you run; plus, I suppose the degree of hydration you maintain.
When shopping for shoes, always wear your running socks, shop late in the day, and leave yourself at least an inch (a thumb width) between the end of your longest toe and the front of the shoe. Another factor is that some shoes have larger and higher toe boxes than others.
Funny example of paragraph 1 is that I was wearing the same shoes I’ve had for about 2 years, suddenly my toes were being scrunched in the front. I went to Academy and bought a new, larger size and fixed the problem.
