Old Kawasaki Motorcycles For Sale
Should I buy a new bike or an old one ? What are the advantages and disadv ?

I am first time motorcycle buyer. I have decided to buy Kawasaki Ninja 250 after much discussion and research. I am surprised that a 2003 model costs $2400 and a brand new 2007 model costs $3000. Are there any hidden costs involved when buying a new bike as opposed to buying an old one. The out of the door price for a new one is $3700. However, I have been told that I will have to pay taxes and registration fees anyways if I buy an old one. So, the old one will cost approx $2800 (I think). So, the question is
1. what all do I have to pay when I buy a bike and how much is the cost of each component (sales tax, registration. anything else ?)
2. Is there anything that I dont pay while buying an old bike ?

Thanks
N

I always tell friends buying their first bikes to get a good used one.

If you drop it, your not out as much cash.
Repair parts are easier and cheaper to get.

You will, as you ride, find out what features you like and dislike, and can then confidently go into the dealer knowing exactly what you want.

And, biggest savings of all, you don’t take that big depreciation hit that you will on a new bike the instant you drive it off the lot.

Taxes, registration, title costs, etc. will vary from state to state, but you can be sure that a used bike will always be less expensive in these regards than a new one.

See ya on the road!!
