Pontoon Boat For Sale Kansas
How to get title in NM for boat bought in KS. KS does not title older boats. HELP!?
I bought a boat from a man in Kansas. Kansas does not title older boats. I have a notarized Bill of Sale, payment records, and boat. It’s a 1996 24′ pontoon boat. How do I title the boat in New Mexico and obtain registration papers? NM DMV said I need a title.. Catch 22. Help!
I’m afraid the last owner didn’t register the boat. It was a project of his and he unfortunately had a bad heart attack.. He’s doing great now tho. Only found registration from FL.. good grief! Will contact KSDMV to see.. still looking hard here.. Pls point me in the right direction.. ![]()
I have expired Fl tags.. did a check.. have written dmv.. I need more answers.. Fl tags are from two owners back.. sheesh, what a mess
If the Florida Numbers are on the boat, there is a Florida title. So, if the Kansas guy you bought it from is the owner in Florida, he should have that title. He can then sign that over to you, and that’s what NM. needs. If he doesn’t have it, he can request a duplicate from Florida. If the boat in not in his name has to resolve this, it’s his responsibility to deliver title to you.
Edit: What I was trying to say, and leftout the word he, is that the seller of the boat “MUST” deliver clear title (meaning a title that conveys ownership, to you) that’s the law…….All of the bills of sale or other documents are good but none convey title. If the last numbers on the boat are from Florida, there is a corrisponding title issued to that owner, the question is what happened to it. I’d go to him, and explain the situation and he can get a duplicate, and send it to you. Just ignore everything else………
Or, return the boat and demand your money back…….or give the seller a reasonable amount of time to get a title and give it to you.
