Harley Davidson Helmets
Ok my Dad wants to know about people that ride Harley Davidson…??
He has seemed to notice that a lot of guys that ride Harley Davidson motorcycles have a very arrogant attitude they direct at other riders.
They don’t like to wear helmets, and have a REALLY big problem with with japaneese bike riders, and people that ride alone are deemed outcasts.
What do you think??

There are going to be arrogant snots no matter what brand you choose.
I’ve been to plenty of rallies, and I always notice the crowds sort of “split” into two factions: those that put too much effort into showing off, and those that just love to ride and love meeting others who feel the same way.
I’ve run into plenty of jackasses in my 16 years of riding. The ones that always got to me were the young newbies who thought that they were now “bikers” because they rode a certain brand. Once, at a rally in Texas, I pulled up on my ride at the time (a Vulcan Drifter, great bike) and parked near a BBQ joint. This young punk on a 883 Sportster dismounted, walked over to me and said, “This is Harley parking only!” and turned around to get the reactions of his equally young and equally arrogant buddies. I stood a foot taller than him, so I just stared down at him and laughed in his face. An older gentleman walked up to him and told him to shut up, stating, “You do not speak for Harley riders.” I’ve come to just ignore the arrogant pricks, for I find that usually their ownership experience ends when they find that nobody sees them as the rebels they want to be, and the bike ends up on Craigslist. They don’t do it for the pleasure of riding, but only to boost the ol’ ego.
I’ve been treated rudely by sportbikers, BMW owners, and Jap bike owners alike. It doesn’t bug me anymore. It’s part of the culture and sometimes can be good fun. At rallies or gatherings, I usually ignore the “attitude crowd” and find the old salts. You can gain much wisdom from them, and listen to some great stories.
– To the poster who put “I took a class so that I wouldn’t have to wear a helmet” — How asinine. Taking an MSF course should have taught you the opposite. It does not give you the skills to just stop wearing helmets. If you choose to not wear a helmet, it doesn’t make you a rebel or a loner. It just means you choose to accept the risk of not wearing one, and the added injury you’ll obtain in event of a crash. You have that choice depending on what state you live in, so don’t act like it’s something that makes you James Dean.
